Discover Wuyuan

A Forest and Water Wonderland in Wuyuan

About 43 kilometers away from the center of Wuyuan County, embraced by rolling mountains from all sides, Wolong Valley is a natural four season water wonderland with grotesque rocks, emerald ponds, clear streams and grand waterfalls. The photogenic trail leading up to the top of the valley showcases the area’s diverse flora and fauna, with the sound of waterfall splashing on the bottom rocks and morning mist surrounding the valley, Wolong Valley is a mysterious and magical place all year long.

Best route to explore: We recommend the classic route of “taking the cable car up and hiking back down.” Once you reach the “Yangtian Platform,” you can choose from the following options:

Year-round: Depending on your fitness level and interests, you can continue along the trail to explore the Longjing Waterfall area, featuring a waterfall with a drop of approximately 195 meters, as well as the canyon sinkhole. After exploring these remarkable natural sinkhole formations, return to Yangtian Platform via the same route.

Rainy days (rainy season): We recommend heading to Dalong Waterfall, which has a drop of approximately 230 meters. After enjoying the spectacular waterfall, return to Yangtian Platform via the same route.

Spectacular Waterfalls

Every year during the rainy season—from April through June and sometimes into July—Wolong Valley is at its most spectacular. The canyon features a natural elevation drop of approximately 730 meters, after several consecutive days of rain, the water levels rise dramatically, transforming the valley’s many waterfalls into a breathtaking display of power and beauty.

Dalong Waterfall plunges from a cliff approximately 230 meters high, roaring like thunder when the water surges and filling the base with a veil of mist. Xiaolong Waterfall cascades down a 193-meter drop, sending sparkling droplets and torrents of white water into the gorge. Yilianyou Waterfall tumbles down a series of cascading tiers over a total drop of 334 meters, its rushing waters echoing through the surrounding mountains.

Scenic Trail Hiking
