The resort opened its doors in July 2022. Centered on the legend of a Wu girl flying to the sky, it features the new Huizhou architectural style and is a comprehensive holiday destination integrating sightseeing, entertainment, conferences and exhibitions. The resort provides unique experiences including the cultural show “Encounter·Wuyuan”, Hui-style cultural exhibitions and workshops, night fireworks and light show, music festivals, a water park, local shopping, gourmet dining and more. WuNv Fairyland is the new, most exciting addition to Wuyuan’s attractions.
Show "Encounter·Wuyuan"
The show centers on the legend of a Wu girl on a gigantic bighead carp that saved villagers from a disastrous flood and then flew to the sky to become a star. With advanced lighting and sound technology, feast your senses on a wide range of awe-inspiring audio and visual scenes. Paired together with a moving storyline, everyone is sure to take away a piece of Huizhou culture with them when they leave.
Iron Flower Show
The Iron Flower Show (打铁花) is one of the most spectacular nighttime experiences at Wunvzhou Resort in Wuyuan. It is not actually a conventional fireworks show. Instead, it is a traditional Chinese folk fire-art performance in which performers use wooden boards to splash molten iron heated to around 1,600°C into the night sky. The glowing metal instantly bursts into thousands of bright sparks, creating what looks like a shower of golden stars.
The Iron Flower tradition dates back nearly a thousand years and is recognized as a form of Chinese intangible cultural heritage. The experience is very different from watching fireworks from a distance. You can actually see the performer creating the “iron flowers” in real time. At Wunvzhou, the performance has become one of the signature attractions of the resort’s evening program. Pay attention to the the schedule of the show, don’t miss it!
Fireworks/Light Show at Night
The highlights of WuNv Fairyland are its enchanting light show and spectacular Saturday night fireworks, lighting up the three islands and two lakes like a dream wonderland.
Hui-style Architecture
If you take a stroll around WuNv Fairyland, you’ll encounter Huizhou-style buildings and houses everywhere you look. Huizhou-style architecture is an ancient Chinese architectural style typically built with black tiles and white walls, often accompanied by artistic decorations made of brick, stone, and wood.
Housed in a beautiful Huizhou-style building, Jingyong Gallery celebrates the life and work of one of China’s most renowned writers. Fans of Jingyong won’t want to miss a visit.
Wenchang Library
Wuyuan has long been known as a “Town of scholars,” reflecting its deep-rooted tradition of valuing education and encouraging children to pursue learning from a young age. Wenchang Library is one example of the local respect for books, knowledge, and education. Over the centuries, Wuyuan has produced many accomplished scholars and talented individuals, leaving behind a rich cultural legacy that visitors can still experience today.
While exploring Wunvzhou Resort, you can visit the Zhuxi Exhibition, dedicated to one of the most influential philosophers in Chinese history.
Cultural Heritage
Being surrounded by three neighboring provinces, Wuyuan has formed a unique cultural legacy including elements such as Hui-inkstone, carvings, Hui-style opera, Nuo Dance, green tea and much more. Among them, the Hui-inkstone is particularly special: while inkstones are commonly used for Chinese calligraphy, the Hui-inkstone is intricately designed and makes for a wonderful souvenir to take home. Give the Tenfei Inkstone Museum a tour and you won’t regret it.
Traditional Events
On special occasions, you get to witness traditional Chinese weddings, Hui-style opera, Nuo Dance, tea ceremony etc.
Four-Season Waterpark
The water park inside WuNv Fairyland covers over 24 thousand square meters, with an indoor area boasting warm water year-round. This is a great facility for families, especially for children to have fun in the summer. The opening hours of the outdoor and indoor water parks vary by season, the outdoor water park is only open in the summer. If you plan to visit the water parks, be sure to check the operating schedules before your visit. Please note that admission to the water parks requires a separate ticket.
Music Festivals
From time to time, especially in the summertime, WuNv Fairyland also hosts organized music festivals, so pay attention to the schedules—the concerts fill the whole place with a lively energy.
