Tips for Hiking in Wuyuan:
- Best Time: March–April for canola flowers, September–November for autumn foliage
- Transport: Use DD service/taxis to reach trailheads if you stay in Wuyuan downtown area. Arrange a local driver with your accommodation provider in advance for picking you up after the hike, it is hard to call DD or taxi in remote area (villages)
- Bring cash: Some local guides only accept cash payment, negotiate fees before hiring somebody
- Footwear: Wear comfortable shoes, as some trails are uneven or muddy. Avoid rainy days to hike, trails can be very slippery
- Entrance Fees: Some villages charge tickets (~60 RMB), but early-morning entry may avoid fees
- Summer in Wuyuan can be very hot and humid, check weather before setting out, get hydrated all the time
