Autumn Scenery

Wuyuan is famous for its golden canola flowers growing on layers of terraces from hilltops to the valleys, it earns the reputation as the most beautiful countryside in China. But, equally beautiful and impressive is the autumn sights everyone would enjoy. From "Shaiqiu" in Huangling village, maple trees viewing in Shicheng village and Chrysanthemum field in Xiaoqi village, you will be pleasantly surprised that Wuyuan has more to offer than just the magnificent spring canola flower bloom.

In early autumn, the villagers put out farm produces of various colors, such as chilies, pumpkins, chrysanthemum flowers, etc., in front of the local houses for drying under the sun. This process is called “Shaiqiu” in Chinese – a tradition that has been passed down for centuries. The locals dry and preserve the crops for winter. The scenes of “Shaiqiu” are stunningly beautiful, it has become a symbol of local culture and a highlight of rural tourism. 

Autumn Folige Viewing in Shicheng Village

The morning fog and red maple trees are two major attractions of this village. Between 5 am to 9 am, Shicheng emerges in the early morning mist and sunrise light, with fiery red old maple trees towering over the black and white Hui-style ancient residences, Shichng village attracts huge crowds to come here and enjoy the autumn foliage. It also becomes the favorite spot for photographers to show off their skills.

chrysanthemum Field in Xiaoqi Village

Xiaoqi Village is well known for its tea gardens and tea culture. Among the variety of tea products, the Royal Chrysanthemum Tea has become very popular in recent years. With its bright yellow color and unique fragrance, Chrysanthemum Tea is the cup of tea everyone would enjoy. Each autumn, Xiaoqi village grows acres of chrysanthemum flowers, the golden chrysanthemum bloom attracts numerous tourists, tea merchants, tea lovers, of course, passionate photographers.

The best time to view the chrysanthemum bloom is early November to the 25th of November.
