Historic Sites
Wuyuan historically belonged to Huizhou, a region in southeastern China, now located in Huangshan city in Anhui Province. Huizhou consisted of six counties and Wuyuan was one of them. Wuyuan is an essential part of the ancient Huizhou Culture, with a series of ancient villages retaining the typical Huizhou residences, mansions of historical celebrities, ancestral halls, and antique gallery bridges. Many scholars and talented people in history leave the country with a deep cultural legacy. Inside the old buildings and houses there are usually has a skywell with exquisite stone carvings, wood carvings.
Xiaojiang Ancestral Hall
Jiangwan is surrounded by three sides of rolling mountains, an S-shaped river runs east to west through the village, an ideal feng shui setup for an ancient village. This area is full of cultural heritage and has produced numerous well-known scholars and important officials in history, all of whom chose to build large residences here in order to improve the quality of life for their families, resulting in many well-preserved ancestral halls and official mansions.
Rainbow Bridage
Built more than 800 years ago, this covered bridge is the longest in the area of ancient Huizhou. This 140m long and 7m wide bridge is an architectural masterpiece, it includes 5 corridors and 6 pavilions. The engineering features of the bridge and the exquisite design of the cover embody the wisdom of the ancient Chinese. Rainbow Bridge is a landmark of Qinghua Town, where it serves as the gateway to some very popular attractions on North Route.
Wengong Mountain ( Philosopher Xi's Memorial )
文公山位于婺源县西南部，距县城29公里，因山腰葬有朱熹（号文公）祖籍，故名“文公山”。山上有朱熹亲手种植的24棵古杉树，主要景观有积庆亭，古驿道，义积桥，文公湖，朱熹纪念馆等。山上林木葱郁，森林覆盖率高达95%。
Yu Family Ancestral Hall
汪口以俞姓村民为主，历史上是徽州府城陆路经婺源至江西饶州的必经之地，水路交通十分便捷，是有名的古商码头。以俞氏宗祠为代表的徽派古建筑,古屋保持良好。从汪口对面的观景台上可以看到和拍到这个水光山色的商埠名村。
Baizhu Ancestral Hall
Baizhu Ancestral Hall is located in Huangcun Village, Dazhangshan Town, 34km from the Wuyuan County centre. Built in the period of late Ming and early Qing Dynasty, Baizhou Ancestral Hall has 350 years of history. Since there are a hundred of wood columns, it is called ” Baizhu Ancestral Hall”, in Chinese Baizhu means one hundred Columns. The Ancestral Hall is structured by brick, wood and stone and it is mainly composed of seven large sections including courtyard, arch, gallery, front patio, ancestral hall, back patio, and bedrooms. It is considered as the artistic treasure of Chinese ancient Huizhou style architecture.
Hui-style old houses in Sixiyan Village
Sixiyan Village is actually comprised of both Sixi and Yancun, the two best-preserved historic villages in Wuyuan. This area reflects a period when Wuyuan’s wealthy merchants were the most prosperous and successful. Wandering through the winding alleys of this ancient village, you will encounter exquisite stone, wood, and brick carvings in the courtyards of many old houses—an intricate homage to Wuyuan’s history and culture.
