Wengong Mountain
In memory of Zhuxi, the famous Confucian philosopher, this is where his ancestral tomb is located. Along the ancient stone path leading up to Wengong Mountain, you will find lots of rare ancient trees here, among which the most notable are the fir trees planted by Zhu Xi himself.
Mandarin Duck Lake
This lake is the largest wild mandarin duck habitat in Asia. Due to the mild winter in Wuyuan, these wild mandarin ducks migrate to the lake from Siberia, Russia every year. Bird lovers flock to the lake not only to admire the beautiful mandarin ducks but also to seek the other rare birds like white cranes. Mandarin ducks in Chinese symbolize happiness and forever love, so more the reason to visit.
The largest natural village in Wuyuan, Youshan Village was build in Song Dynasty (976-984), currently has more than 800 households and has a population of more than 3800, majority with last name: Dong. This well-preserved ancient village is surrounded by lush forests, with a 600-meter long river winding through. Old houses are lined up along the river banks, streets are filled with all kinds of stores that supports villagers’ daily life. There are around 500 Ming and Qing Dynasty ancestral halls and residences in the village, some of them were built with very high architectural standard and artistic beauty.
Located in northwest Wuyuan, Changxi Village is a little gem on the west tour route. Nestled in mountains and tucked away from tourist sites, Changxi Village has more than a thousand years of history, it features ancient residences, a way of traditional village life and beautiful natural scenery especially the breathtaking fall foliage in autumn. It is also one of the best hiking destinations in Wuyun.
Yaowan attraction is located 12 km from downtown Wuyuan, it sits next to the ancient Kaoshui Village, which has over a thousand years of history and deep cultural legacy. The attraction is surrounded by mountains and hills with a setting of a traditional village life. Yaowan opened its door to the public in 2016, since then it has become a place where people can enjoy fresh air, the peaceful environment, the slow-paced country life, traditional food and local culture.
