Wangko was first developed in Song Dynasty, it was an important commercial wharf at the time in Wuyuan. There are still some well preserved hui-style official halls, ancient merchants residences, and charming old houses in the village. Among them, the Yu Ancestral Hall is the most famous with impressive and exquisite wood carvings throughout the whole structure.

Yu Ancestral Hall was built in the Song dynasty, it is a Huizhou style architecture gem. Its woodcarvings are the most impressive, a must-visit for all when you are in Wangko Village.
Ancient Street is the main street that flourished in the early Qing Dynasty. With a length of about 600 meters, this street connects 340 houses of the whole village. In ancient times, along the street, there were many stores and lodges that attracted merchants from all over the world. Today you can still feel the history and the ancient charm when you stroll on this quiet street.
A clear-to-the-bottom river running in front, and three sides surrounded by lush green forest, Wangko is popular in the summer. Bamboo rafting seems the perfect way to escape the summer heat, especially for families with kids.
