Sixiyan Village
Sixiyan Village is located in Sikou Town, about 22 kilometers away from Wuyuan County, China’s most beautiful countryside. Sixiyan Village is actually composed of both Sixi Village and Yan Village, the two best-preserved historic villages in Wuyuan. Sixi Village and Yan Village are about 500 meters apart, they are connected by waterways and pathways, forming a unified scenic area.
This area reflects a period when Wuyuan’s wealthy merchants were the most prosperous and successful. Wandering through the winding alleys of this ancient village, you will encounter exquisite stone, wood, and brick carvings in the courtyards of many old houses—an intricate homage to Wuyuan’s history and culture.

Sixi Village is the most beautiful Qing dynasty village to wander around, get lost along its blue-stoned alleyways, admiring the ancient buildings and its rooftop. This is also the location that a well-known movie was shot, another reason for tourists coming here to revisit the movie scenes.

Yan Village is home to 56 well-preserved Hui-style buildings and houses from the Ming and Qing dynasties. Built with distinguished features such as skywells and elaborate carvings, these monuments to history are a sight you can’t miss.

There are walking trails, boat rides and bridges linking Sixi Village and Yan Village, whichever ways you take to tour the area will give you great pleasure. In March and April, your eyes will be filled with a sea of golden canola flowers, what a treat!

Sixiyan Village is where you would like to stay if you fancy spending a night in the countryside. It contains most old hui-style houses with ancient village ambiance and setting. The accommodation choices are wide-ranging, Wuyuan Huamantang·Egret Academy and Jiwei Hotel are the two good choices among the many.
